Last year I wrote about meeting Aparna Rajawat (On a Mission: Fighting for Women in India) and the work she is doing with Pink Belt Mission in India (Be a Warrior. You Might Just Save a Life). Despite the worldwide lockdown she has been finding ways to continue her important work and is making great strides every day in empowering women of all ages throughout her home country.

Aparna and her Pink Belt team accomplished their goal on February 19, 2020 to set a Guinness Book World Record for the greatest number of people attending and participating in a self-defense lesson. It was an amazing day in so many respects, rewarding a culmination of months and months of hard work to spread the word about Pink Belt and organize a gathering of almost 8,000 people!

John McCrite, film director from California, was in India not only for the Guinness World Record event, but also for several weeks to record Aparna and her team as they visited schools, met with local and government officials, and personally met and counseled thousands of young women to spread the word about the Pink Belt Mission. Every day he and his crew validated how Aparna’s mission was changing lives.
Now almost a year later, the documentary Pink Belt Mission is complete and has been entered into film festivals around the world. Next week it will be part of the 13th Annual Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) and you can watch it on Tuesday, January 19!
From the JIFF website:
“It is to be mentioned that this time more than 2100 movies from more than 85 countries have been received, of which 266 films from 44 countries will be shown online this year in the festival under the competition category. The screening schedule of the film has been put on the JIFF website (http://jiffindia.org).
