Love, love these glass demijohns arranged on a dining table. I’ve been lusting after these for a few years.
Last weekend I went to my favorite American brocante, or flea market and antique show. The Scott Antique Market sets up in Atlanta the second weekend of every month, and here you will find two HUGE warehouses filled with vendors from around the southeastern United States and beyond. It is an antique lover’s dream destination (unless you’re at the brocantes in France), and it’s always fun to see what new things your favorite vendors are displaying and catch up with them to see what’s been going on in their lives and business.

The weekend didn’t start out as planned due to the craaazzzee snow storm that dumped up to 12 inches on Atlanta! But thankfully the roads became clear enough to drive on once the sun broke through. A little snow can’t keep me from an antique market!
Scott’s is a favorite haunt of designers, they are usually first on the scene as vendors are still setting up before it opens on the first day. As I don’t have anywhere else to put anything (the downside of having fun-sized my home a few years ago), so what I love most is to see how each vendor “decorates” their booth with their treasures. And with the Christmas holiday being only a couple of weeks away, they had some fabulous displays from which to steal ideas.

This is a favorite vendor who always does such a great job with the booth’s display. Just hanging these draperies and rods made it so easy to envision how this would look at home.

Such a clever way to display an assortment of vintage finds. Love the old suitcase used to showcase architectural elements, and the added greenery brings it to life. I came home and put a pine cone (we have plenty of those around here) in an old silver urn. Do you see it on the table? I mean really, how simple is that?

Ooooohhh, I would love to find this under my tree on Christmas morning! And it gives me an idea of how to use some vintage French shoe buckles and brooches from the brocante to make a gorgeous necklace.

I had never seen so many vintage furs at Scott’s before this show. Perfect timing given the frightful weather outside.

Shutters and doors were everywhere, with so many clever arrangements inspiring how to use them. Adding the mirrors to replace the glass can really open up a room by reflecting more light.

And yes, you can make a lamp base out of anything.

I’m totally stealing this idea for silverware at my next buffet dinner or party. Now I just have to source the lovely fluted glass jars in the rattan holders. Lining them up in an old tray or drawer really turns it into a showcase.

And look who I found shopping for antiques! Thank God he didn’t ask me if I have been naughty or nice. Even gave me a candy cane. Santa and I match with me wearing the red wool coat I bought at the weekly market in Aix-en-Provence a year ago.
I love to shop for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts at flea markets and antique shops. For me it’s the best way to repurpose and recycle instead of shopping for new stuff at the mall. And it’s a perfect way to choose a gift that truly makes the recipient feel special. Happy hunting!
Ahhhhh a wonderful place to visit and shop, of course-
Love pictures & descriptions-so enjoyed Suzette-HoHoHo??
