If you’re like a lot of people at this time of year, you’re planning a holiday party, having friends over for cocktails or getting ready for family gatherings to celebrate the season.
I just discovered a trick on the site Tasting Table for how to get your wine glasses to be clean and ready to sparkle. Although I use my wine glasses often (that’s what they’re for!) and rotate them in my cabinet, the ones that haven’t been used in a while always seem to have some dust or spots and I find myself washing them to get them ready to use.
Not any more! I don’t know how I’ve missed this trick, but it’s simple and it really works. The trick? To polish your glassware, hold the glass over steam before wiping away smudges. Yep, that’s it. Easy peasy and it only takes a few seconds.
Here are the steps to get your glasses to shine:
- Heat water in a pot to produce a steady flow of steam.
- Hold glassware over the steam so that the mouth of the glass fogs up.
- Wipe away the condensation with a microfiber cloth (I just use an old linen/cotton lint-free cloth that I use for drying dishes).
