Chez Suzette Reader Shares How She Re-Purposes

November 25, 2017 · 2 Comments

I recently wrote about how I use vintage brooches and pins on furniture and in other places throughout my house.  In that blog post, Giving New Life to Old Things, I asked readers to share how they use things in a different way.

My friend Louanne, a blog subscriber in Tennessee, sent me these photos to show how she has re-purposed old things in a new way in her home.  She has a beautiful way of mixing old and new in her self-described “eclectic” way of decorating.  And she’s given me a few new ideas to think about.

Louanne added a beautiful brooch to the back of one her chairs — I think the style and the colors are perfect!

This is an old grocery cart that appears to be filled with snacks for when Louanne’s grandchildren come to visit. I suspect they make a beeline for this cart every time they come over!

An old kitchen Pie Safe that used to have metal doors with holes punched in them for releasing steam as the pies cooled.

Louanne took an old frame, old handles and old sheet music to make a serving tray….so clever!

An old three-legged milking stool that now adds extra seating

An antique boiler used for washing and bathing, water was heated in it over a wood fire.

Now painted inside and with baskets added to hold vegetables!

An antique sugar bowl that Louanne now uses at her coffee station. I love how she has filled it with coffee beans and the lovely mother of pearl spoons.

And a small antique French porcelain jardiniere, now used to hold those little packets of sweeteners at the coffee station. This one is special because it’s a perfect little item I found at one of the brocantes in Provence and Louanne purchased from Chez Suzette! I love its new life!

Merci, Louanne, for sharing your photos and ideas with Chez Suzette.  So much fun to see how others are giving new life to old things.  Blog readers, keep those ideas coming to share with the rest of us!

How clever of Louanne for finding new and fun ways to re-purpose beautiful old things. I especially like the sheet music tray and coffee service items. I was wondering what to do with my collection of French porcelain and now I have great new ideas, thanks to Louanne and Suzette’s blog.
